6.Finally, if you fail to follow the guidline above, your name may possibly be on the huge blacklist on the online

Thank you very much for the welcome and the advice. I do not know any japanese but I hope to learn a little to ease communication. Maybe someone can inform me of the proper introduction? Also how to tell someone I do not speak Japanese? :)
Not all Americans wish to be so rude...
I know that.
But if we cannot find the meeting groud, the only thing we can do is to ask
the Square-enix to separate us into different worlds.
My propositions above are to avoid the international conflict caused by
the different ways of thinking. Those of you who have ever been interested
in Japanese society may know that that is how Japanese people organize
our society. For most of us your newly-participation to our worlds (servers)
is no more than the colonial expansion of North America.
(Sorry for my rude language but it's what have been stated for so long here.)
The most important here is to find the meeting groud where we both can happily
play and communicate. If not, what a mess, you know.........

As long as I'm concerned, when I say "I can speak English." I mean that I'm
really proud of my English conversation skill and foreigners dont need to
be afraid of communication difficulties. I believe great number of Japanese

I've been a fan of final fantasy since day 1. Kain has been my favorite character for a long time and I wish to walk in his footsteps :P English also isn't my native tongue, I just happen to be french canadian. Though it is my intention to pick up on as much japanese as possible.
I'm thinking of playing a warrior and finaly becoming a dragoon/samurai. My game shop said we are only getting FF on the 30th. So I'll be there at 10am and without sleeping the night before.
From what I have observed people need 3 groups of 6 (or something like that) to defeat powerful monsters. I was wondering how long it takes to gather such an impressive force?

This kind of pretentious behavior is what annoyed me about PSO's international servers. Here is a newsflash: We (NA players)
are paying $13 a month too. We can play however we like. We don't need nor appreciate you dictating to us how to play.
If someone wants to be an ass in game they wont be able to find a party with Americans either. However posting rules for us
'stupid Americans' to follow so we don't break your precious structure will only serve to piss us off. There are many ways to
play this game and just because its not yours does not make it incorrect.

The 2 hour minimum is to be polite, insuring the fellow people in your PT that everyone will benefit(most of the time ><) from the PT.
It would not be a good PT if everyone only went out into Vana for 45 minutes, not much experience is to be gained.
Please, use the information given by 17 to guide yourself in your actions, if you are a rude, obnoxious, or arrogant player people will learn to avoid you.

I am so happy to hear that we will be able to all play together. Playing on seperate servers would be okay but I think that meshing with everyone will be a nice experience. I look forward to making many Japanese friends. I too greatly enjoy Anime, Japanese Music, and am very much facinated with Japanese culture. I really hope most Americans behave. We tend to be more confrontational and some may get frustrated very quickly if someone does not understand them or seems slow(most likely the ones who are like this are immature)
I know many japanese tend to be silent and non confrontational, but if you have a grievance with another player just calmly tell them you do not wish to argue and if they insist upon it please try to ignore their behavior.
We are VERY competitive which will be a big difference as you will see people doing very immature things in order to gain status.
But remember every sword has two sides. With the Good also comes bad however the bad can be tempered and reforged into good if enough patience is given(on BOTH sides US and Japanese) and a complete edge can be made.

I'm looking forward to the day I get the game(which should be either
tomorrow or the next day) and playing with Japanese players, as I'm
sure there's quite a bit that we can teach each other, whether it be
regarding language, culture, or the best way to keep from being

I'm fairly certain that Japanese is displayed, my main concern is how to enter it.

It should not surprise you that a lot of people playing the game are spoiled children. Who else has so much spare time (and money) to play an MMORPG.
I have been using the excite translater and find that not doing a very good job.
Most I get is about ever fourth word.

but I think Square will realize they made a stupid mistake. They
should have made seperate servers for Japan-only, American-only, and
Mixed. People like me would want to play on a mixed server, but all the
Americans and Japanese who don't want to play with each other could
play seperately. As it is, I hope we don't kill each other. =P

if one server could hold 5000, then that would mean SE is expecting to sell less than 50,000 copies, and also wants it's servers to be completely MAXED out. i think that is impossible. the last big launch game that comes to mind for me was xenosaga. practically nobody was talking about xenosaga the week before its release, but it sold over 200,000 copies in the first month in the US. every other word i hear now in the gaming scene is "FFXI". now, if i would have to guess, the NA release will sell at a bare minimum 200,000 copies in the first month. so, if the numbers are right about the servers, they would have to open new ones.

Most in North America are upset about the lack of new servers mostly because they wanted to start fresh on new servers.
Also, few in America learn any language but English and very few schools here offer to teach Japanese.
It is a challange that most did not expect, to start a new game on old servers and to be playing with so many others who are not native English speakers.
I was also upset for these reasons, until I read the messages here. Now, I am happy that I will be playing with many Japanese players who will welcome NA players and hopefully be patient with us new players, who will be learning a new game and a new language at the same time.

I think Square will need to add new servers soon, but I will be very happy to meet Japanese players, learn from them and make friends.

English is not my language too so i will try my best to express myself and hopefully i will learn a little bit of Japanese too ^^
I always been a fan of FF games and now playing online in Final Fantasy is like a dream becoming true for myself.
I will have hard time choosing my race and profession since i like most of them. Maybe i'll become a Mithra or hume red mage or white mage, I always liked to help people around and group a lot in the games I already played so i hope that should be a good choice.

IT is hard to say but Taru-Taru mages seems to be popular as well as Hume characters of many jobs. I was thinking of an Elve Red Mage myself.
Many Japanese think as if they speak perfect English, otherwise it's quite embaressing.

One character is not restricted to one main job and one support job only but

Does race matter very much on how good a character is? If I made a
hume paladin, would it be much worse then a Galka paladin? I want
to be hume so I can try out many different jobs, but will my

Usually tartar race is more oriented for mages (e.g. RDM, WHT, BLM, SMN) for its vast
amount of MP and the highly-set abilities which affects the effects of the spell. (e.g. INT)
Galka and Elvaan are more oriented for physical fighters for their good amount of HP and
relevant abilities.
Mithra and Hume are intermediate races between those extremes and can be said as "multipotent"
but which in turn means they are "inperfect" all the time.
However, the comment above is oversimplfying the matter. The reality is more complicated.
While the proper combination of race and job can result in good outcome, most of players dont
seem to care about which race should be combined with which.
My suggestion is do whatever you like and you'll know how the Vana'diel is going on.

ここへどうぞ
今日、半年ぶりにユニ鯖で始めたんだけど北米から新規にはいられてる方が
多かったです。いよいよユニ鯖も国際化ですね(^^)
さて、自分たちも最初ヒーリングの仕方がわからず戸惑ったように
北米版で本日始めた方も、HPやMP減るとモグへ行って回復したり途方に暮れてる
方が結構おりました。
自分は学校の英語授業ずっとサボってたのでヒーリングの仕方を説明するのに
苦労しました。(^^;)
そこで、どなたか英語でヒーリングの仕方と効果をこちらと向こうのBBSに書き込んで
いただきたいのですが…

Perhaps that is the difference between JP and most NA MMORPGs. In NA MMORPGs, people mostly consider conversation a positive (well, usually) social activity and do not hesitate to converse using area broadcast such as "say". Since interaction between players is perceived as one of the main reasons for playing MMORPGs, talking in public areas using "say" may even be seen as one of the main reasons for playing MMORGPs. Still, it is often considered inconsiderate to use a server wide broadcast which everyone can hear such as "shout" to carry out conversation.
In fact, I think among most NA players a player who is silent most of the time may be considered unfriendly, or at worst even antisocial. A readiness to engage in friendly/polite conversation is usually regarded as common courtesy :)
